Post Prep

Post Prep gets a whole batch of photos ready for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and more in one pass. It resizes every photo to the size the platform expects, strips hidden GPS and camera data, adds your watermark if you want one, compresses and renames the files — and hands everything back as a single ZIP. It all happens in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded.

How to use Post Prep

  1. Add your photos. Drop in JPEG, PNG or WebP files — one photo or a whole shoot. Click any thumbnail to preview it with your settings.
  2. Pick where you are posting. Choose a platform size such as Instagram 4:5, Reels / TikTok 9:16 or a YouTube thumbnail, or enter a custom size.
  3. Decide how to handle the shape. Crop to fill, fit the photo with blurred edges, or fit it on a solid color (see below for when to use each).
  4. Add a watermark (optional). Type your @handle or upload a logo, then set its size, opacity and position.
  5. Choose your export settings and click Prepare. Pick JPEG, WebP or PNG, set the quality, optionally a maximum file size and a naming pattern — then download each photo or everything as one ZIP.

Crop, blurred edges or solid color: which should you choose?

  • Crop to fill fills the whole frame and trims whatever doesn’t fit. Best when your subject sits comfortably in the middle. Use Keep in frame: Top for portraits so heads don’t get cut off.
  • Fit + blurred edges keeps your entire photo and fills the empty space with a soft, blurred version of the same image. Perfect for turning a landscape photo into a 9:16 Story or a 4:5 post without cropping anything out.
  • Fit + solid color keeps the entire photo on a plain background in the color you pick — a clean look for product shots, quotes and graphics.

Why Post Prep removes your photo’s metadata

Photos from phones and cameras often carry hidden information: the exact GPS location where they were taken, the device model, the date and time, and sometimes the editing software. Some platforms remove part of it when you upload, but files you share by email, chat, Google Drive or on your own website usually keep it.

Every photo that comes out of Post Prep is completely clean — no GPS, no camera details, no timestamps. If a photo you add contains a location, its thumbnail gets a red GPS badge, so you can see exactly which photos would have given away where you were.

Tips for better results

  • For Reels, TikTok and Shorts, put your watermark at the top: the bottom and right edges are covered by captions and buttons. Not sure? Check with the Safe Zone Checker.
  • Use a naming pattern like mybrand-{date}-{n} to get tidy, numbered files that are easy to find later.
  • Need to stay under an upload limit? Set a Max file size and Post Prep will lower the quality step by step until each photo fits.
  • JPEG at 85% quality looks identical to the original for almost everyone and is far smaller. Choose PNG only for graphics with sharp text or transparency.
  • Post Prep never changes your original files — it creates new copies, so you can try different settings as often as you like.

Frequently asked questions

Is Post Prep free?

Yes. There is no signup, no watermark added to your photos and no limit on how often you use it.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Post Prep runs entirely in your browser. Your photos are processed on your own device and never sent to a server, which is also why it works quickly even with big batches.

How many photos can I prepare at once?

There is no fixed limit. Batches of dozens of photos work well; how far beyond that you can go depends on your device’s memory, so very large batches of high-resolution photos are best prepared on a computer.

Will my photos lose quality?

Resizing and saving always recompresses a photo, but at the default 85% JPEG quality the difference is not visible on social media. If you need a pixel-perfect copy, choose PNG, or use the Metadata Remover, which cleans photos without re-saving them at all.

Can I use photos from my iPhone?

Yes. iPhones normally share photos as JPEG when you upload or AirDrop them. If your files are in HEIC format, they open in Safari; in other browsers, switch your iPhone to Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible or export them as JPEG first.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Post Prep works in modern mobile browsers on iPhone and Android, as well as on Windows, Mac and Chromebook.
