Instagram 3:4 Grid Resizer (1080 × 1440)

Instagram’s profile grid now shows tall 3:4 tiles instead of squares, and the feed accepts 3:4 posts. This resizer turns any photo — or a whole batch — into a 1080 × 1440 image that fills the new grid tile completely, without cutting anything out of your picture. It runs in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded.

Not sure which size you need? This page makes tall 3:4 photos that fill the new profile grid. If you just want your whole photo to fit in the feed at the classic portrait size, use the Instagram no-crop resizer (4:5).

How to resize a photo to Instagram 3:4

  1. Drop in one or more photos. The Instagram 3:4 size is already selected.
  2. Keep Fit + blurred edges to show your whole photo with soft, blurred fill — or switch to Crop to fill if you prefer a tight crop.
  3. Click Prepare and download your photos one by one or as a ZIP. GPS location and camera data are removed automatically.

Why 3:4 is the new Instagram size

In January 2025 Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced that profile grids would switch from squares to taller rectangles, because most people shoot photos and videos vertically on their phones. Native 3:4 posts in the feed followed later in 2025. The result: square posts now look short in the grid, and 4:5 posts lose a thin strip on each side when they appear as a grid tile.

FormatSizeHow it looks in the profile grid
3:4 (tall)1080 × 1440Fills the grid tile exactly — nothing is cropped
4:5 (portrait)1080 × 1350A thin strip is trimmed from the left and right edges
1:1 (square)1080 × 1080Top and bottom are cut off in the grid preview

Tips for 3:4 posts

  • Keep faces, text and logos away from the very edges so they survive every crop Instagram might apply in different views.
  • In a carousel, every slide uses the ratio of the first slide — prepare all photos at 3:4 together so nothing gets cropped.
  • Instagram displays feed photos at 1080 pixels wide, so 1080 × 1440 is the sharpest size you can upload for this ratio.
  • Want a white or colored border instead of blur? Choose Fit + solid color and pick your color.

Frequently asked questions

Does Instagram accept 3:4 photos?

Yes. Instagram now supports feed photos from 1.91:1 (landscape) up to 3:4 (tall), so a 1080 × 1440 image posts without being cropped.

Should I use 3:4 or 4:5?

Use 3:4 if you care about how your profile grid looks — it fills the new taller tiles exactly. 4:5 still works well in the feed but loses a little at the sides in the grid.

Can I resize many photos at once?

Yes. Add a whole shoot and download everything as one ZIP. You can also add a watermark and rename the files in the same step.
