Image to vector (SVG)

Turn a logo, icon or drawing into a clean, scalable SVG.

How to convert PNG to SVG

  1. Drop your PNG into the box (JPG and WebP files work too).
  2. Keep Logo / icon for flat-color graphics, or choose Line art / B&W for one-color designs such as signatures, stamps and cut files.
  3. Use the Colors slider to set how many colors the SVG should have, and raise Ignore specks to clean up dust and noise. Click any color in the palette to leave it out, for example a white box behind your logo.
  4. Click Download SVG. You can also copy the SVG code or save a sharp PNG at 4× the size.

PNG vs SVG: what changes?

A PNG stores your design as a grid of pixels. An SVG stores it as shapes and curves, which is why it stays crisp at any size.

Which PNGs convert well?

  • Great results: logos, icons, text, stickers, emblems and illustrations with flat colors.
  • Harder: photos, gradients and soft shadows. These turn into flat color areas — choose Photo (poster look) if you want that effect on purpose.
  • Size matters: the bigger and sharper your PNG, the smoother the curves. An image around 1000 pixels wide or larger works best; set Detail to High for small text.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a real vector, or a PNG inside an SVG?

A real vector. Many free converters simply wrap your PNG inside an SVG file, so it still blurs when you scale it. This tool traces your image into actual vector paths that you can resize and edit freely.

Will my SVG have a transparent background?

Yes. Remove the background is on by default, so the area around your design is left out of the SVG. White areas inside the design, like the middle of a letter O, are kept — click that color in the palette if you want those removed too.

Can I use the SVG with Cricut?

Yes. SVG is the best format for Cricut Design Space because each color comes in as its own cut layer. Our step-by-step guide shows how to make an SVG for Cricut, from choosing the image to getting it ready to cut.

Is it free? Is my image uploaded?

It’s completely free with no limits or watermark. The conversion runs on your own device, so your PNG is never uploaded to a server.
